My name is Ms. Elaine Douglas-Harper; my father is the late Kenneth George Douglas, formally of Charles Town in Portland, Jamaica.
He was a driving force for the youths and the development of his community through the Charles Maroon Program. He was a strong believer in Education and was very passionate about the success and upliftment of the youths who are our future Prime Ministers, Teachers, Doctors Lawyers, etc.

Upon his passing I had this burning desire to honor him so I started on a quest to satisfy my desire.  On April 17, 2009, the first Memorial Day and Award Ceremony was held in his honor. We then launched the Individual “Kenneth Douglas Award for excellence.”  Up to date book vouchers were provided to four well deserving students.  I was very excited to know that four students will have the necessary tools (books, pens, pencils, and etc) through the vouchers, two computers were donated and we awarded teachers and custodial staff for their contributions to the growth of the students and the community.  The students and teachers now have a chance to reap the fruits of their labor by having a constant reminder that "there is no substitute for excellence".

Today it is with Honor that I invite you to share in such an awesome opportunity, a chance to impact an entire community of learning for the children of Charles Town in the Parish of Portland Jamaica.  Through your contribution to this program we can bring technology to the classroom that has been in need for this community. The children of this community will use the knowledge they gain from this technology to advance themselves as well as the people around them.  Imagine the opportunity that these young individuals will have in the future of our world.

My desire is to provide a computer lab with internet access for the school operating funds for this project could be supplemented through the use of internet café(s) in the local community. Let’s supply them with the necessary tools needed to make positive contributions to society. Your contributions are greatly appreciated all contributors will be acknowledged during the award ceremony. This year the ceremony will be held on March 25, 2011 at 2:30pm on the grounds of the Charles Town Primary School, we would love for you to grace us with your presence.

As Albert Einstein would say “I never teach my pupils. I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.

Lets create an environment that is condusive to learnig for our leaders of tomarrow
